Traumhafte Landschaften in einer Gegend, die von ständigen Wetterwechseln geprägt ist. 350 km nördlich des Polarkreises ist es gerade das, was das Fotografieren so interessant macht. Für Momente Teil der Natur zu sein, mit all ihrer Kraft und Schönheit, bringt uns nahe an unseren Ursprung zurück. Es tut gut zu sehen, wie die Menschen hier im friedlichen und rücksichtsvollen Umgang mit ihr leben. Dazu gibt es keine Alternative. Das Phänomen der Polarlichter und die Inselkette der Lofoten bieten für alle Naturliebhaber unvergessliche und spannende Erlebnisse.

Beautiful landscapes in a region, characterized by continuous changes in the weather. It’s exactly what makes photography really interest, 350 km north of the polar circle. Being part of the nature for moments, with all of her strength and beauty, brings us close to the source of life. Good to see how peaceful and considerate the people live with her. There is no alternative. The phenomenon of the polar lights and the Lofoten chain of islands provide all nature lover unforgettable and thrilling experiences.

2012 ist das Jahr der Updates für Semipro und Pro DSLR Kameras.

Verzögert durch die schweren Naturkatastrophen in Japan aber noch rechtzeitig vor Beginn der sportlichen Highlights, der Fußball EM und der Olympischen Spiele in London, haben allen voran die “Big 2”, Nikon und Canon ihre DSLR Kameras aktualisiert. Neben der Kamera, diversen Objektiven und einem stabilen Stativ gibt es für mich weiteres nützliches Zubehör, mit dem ich persönlich in den letzten Jahren beste Erfahrungen gemacht habe. Hier ein kurzer Überblick:

L-Plate von Really Right Stuff

Die Kalifornier bieten absolutes High-Tech Foto Zubehör in Top-Qualität an. Wenn Sie in Deutschland leben, dann können Sie einen Teil des Sortiments bei Augenblicke-eingefangen bestellen. Mit der L-Plate ist die Kamera sicher und schnell auf dem Stativkopf befestigt und in sekundenschnelle kann man vom Querformat zum Hochformat wechseln. Dabei bleibt das Objektiv zentriert zur Achse des Stativs. Es gibt keine Schwerpunktprobleme. Zur Erklärung hier ein Video.

2012 is the year of updating semipro and pro DSLR cameras.

Delayed about the natural disasters in Japan but still delivered in time prior to the European Soccer Championship and the Olympic Games in London, above all the “Big 2”, Nikon and Canon have replaced their most important DSLR cameras. Besides camera bodies, lenses and a sturdy tripod here are several useful things I got good experiences with over the last years. A short review:

L-Plate from Really Right Stuff

The californians offer true high-tech photography equipment in top quality. A must!
With the L-plate you can mount the specific DSLR camera safe and quick in both directions, horizontally and vertically on your tripod head. The lens remains centerd to the tripod axis. Check this video here for further explanation.

Nikon D4 Image Quality Test

Bereits die D3 und die D3S waren Weltmeister im DSLR Bereich, wenn es darum geht, in begrenztem Umgebungslicht oder in der Dämmerung sich bewegende Motive scharf und detailreich abzubilden. Dabei ist es wichtig, das digitale Rauschen, was sich in Form starker Körnung besonders in dunklen Bildbereichen zeigt, gering zu halten. Mit ISO Werten bis 3200 konnten sowohl die D3 als auch die D3S sehr gut umgehen. Theoretisch sogar noch viel höher. Allerdings mit Qualitätsabstrichen vor allem im Grossformatdruck.

Die Nikon D4 setzt für mich persönlich hier noch eine Stufe drauf. Sogar mit ISO 6400 lassen sich noch sehr gute Ergebnisse erzielen. Wo also die Bildqualität und vor allem das Rauschverhalten des neuen Wunderwerkes testen? Ich wohne in Aachen und da bot sich für mich das Wahrzeichen der Stadt, der Aachener Dom, in seiner vollen Schönheit an.
Ohne Stativ habe ich etwa 130 Aufnahmen bis ISO 12800 gemacht. Zur Darstellung bewegen Sie einfach Ihre Maus auf jedes der Bilder unterhalb, um einen 100% Ausschnitt der Aufnahmen mit ISO 800 bis ISO 12800 anschauen zu können. Alle Fotos kommen als RAW Bilder ohne jede Nachbearbeitung aus der Kamera. Keine Änderung von Kontrast, Schärfe oder Sättigung. Reine 14bit Dateien im “Auto” Weißabgleich. Als Objektiv habe ich das Nikkor 14-24 mm f/2,8G ED gewählt.
Die Ergebnisse der Bildqualität und vor allem das Rauschverhalten haben mich absolut überzeugt. Die Serienaufnahmen “schnell” sind nicht zuletzt dank der neuen XQD Karten von Sony mit Übertragungsgeschwindigkeiten von bis zu 125 MB/s atemberaubend! Dank des ohnehin besten Autofocus im DSLR Profibereich, macht die D4 das Leben für Hochzeitsfotografen im Bezug auf den Blitzeinsatz nun noch leichter. Action-, Sport- und Wildtierfotografen haben auch in der Zukunft ihre Freude an der neuen Nikon D4.

The predecessors Nikon D3 and D3S were already the pro DSLR champions to capture moving subjects in low-light and twilight situations. It’s important to introduce a low amount of digital noise what’s always more noticeable in darker image areas. The D3 and D3S could handle ISO values up to 3200 very well. Theoretical even more but for me with slightly image quality reduction in serious large format printing because of losing details.

The Nikon D4 now can handle higher ISO’s better still. I can achieve great printing results up to 6400 ISO. The question was, where to test the image quality and digital noise of this new jewel. I live in Aachen and a good place for this purpose is the landmark of our town, the Cathedral of Aachen with it’s whole beauty. Without a tripod I’ve taken about 130 frames up to 12800 ISO. To get a 100% crop of an important image part, just hover your mouse over one of the sample images below captured with 800 – 12800 ISO. All images came as RAW files straight out of the camera without post processing. No change of contrast, sharpness or saturation. Clean 14bit files in “Auto WB” mode. I’ve chosen the Nikkor 14-24 mm f/2.8G ED lens. The results of image quality and digital noise are simply great. The high burst mode with the new Sony XQD card with up to 125MB/s writing speed is stunning. Thanks to the best autofocus system in the DSLR pro market the D4 makes the life for wedding photographer easier, regarding using a flash in lower light situations. Action-, sports- and wildlife photographer will enjoy the new Nikon D4 as always.
